Welcome to the official site of Team JEL Racing! The plans for JEL racing this sesason is to follow the Rislone USCS Modified Touring Series, participate in the USCS Weekly Racing Series, and race at Riverside Int. Speedway. The WRS consists of 7 tracks competing against one another where they take their top 16 finishes during the year. Please check back often for weekly updates.

 

JEL Racing has reached the end of their 2009 race season. They will now regroup and get everything ready for next year. 2010 racing details coming soon!

November 6-7th

JEL Racing ran at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS in the Gumbo Nationals. This is one of the last remaining races of the Rislone USCS Modified Touring Series. Friday night consisted of practice, qualifying, and b-mains for the modifieds, with the top eight being locked in for the feature. Joseph qualified 8th out of a thirty two car field allowing him to grab the last locked in position.  Saturday the top eight cars ran a ten lap dash to decide where they would start the feature. Joseph started eigth and finished 5th. Due to a severe crash in the sprint car feature, all races were cancelled at the time of the crash. Since the modifieds did not run, the results were the same as the line up. This gave Joseph a 5th place finish! 

October 25th

Riverside Int. Speedway held the Trick Or Treat Fall Nationals, with the modifieds racing for $1000 to win. JEL Racing went to Riverside trying to pick up their third win of the year. Over thirty modifieds showed up for this exciting event! Joseph would start on the pole, in the first heat, and wound up finishing second. He started 5th in the twenty car field. After about eight laps, Joseph was slammed from behind and taken out of the race. He wound up finishing 15th.  

October 17th

JEL Racing ventured on down to Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR to race their 15th USCS WRS event. The night started off well with Joe winning the second heat race! Joe started on the outside front row of a ten car field in the feature. On lap two,while in 3rd, he entered turn one a touch too hard and spun bringing out the yellow. After rejoining the rear of the field, Joe made his way back up to 5th, when the power steering went out, making him exit track and finish 7th.

October 3rd

The rain would finally hold off and allow Riverside Speedway to get the races in. JEL Racing started off the night starting 3rd in the second heat. Joe quickly made his way to the lead and won by a full straight away. Joseph started on the pole of the twenty one car field for the feature. For the first couple of laps Joseph and Chase Gustavus put on a great side by side race, with Chase coming out in first! They quickly hit lap traffic, which Joe took advantage of, and took the lead. Joe held Chase off during two restarts and went on to get his second win of the year!

September 26th

Plans were to race at Riverside Speedway but the rain won once again and the races were called off friday night. After a long night at Beebe, the team spent the night in Little Rock, AR. They headed down to Drew Cty. Speedway in Monticello, Ar to compete for more USCS WRS points. The night started off good with Joe finishing 2nd in the first heat race. Joseph started 3rd out of twelve cars in the feature but quickly fell back to 6th. He would soon get wrapped up in a wreck and had to restart at the rear. By the time the checkers fell, Joe had made his way to a 5th place finish.    

September 25th

JEL Racing raced at BeeBe Speedway in Beebe, AR competing with the Rislon USCS Modifieds. Joseph qualified 14th out of thirty cars with the top eight being locked in. Joseph ran second in the b-main making him start 14th in the feature. During the twenty five lap feature, filled with cautions, Joe made it up to 9th to gain another top ten finish. 

September 19th

The plans were to race at Riverside, but due to rain, they were cancelled along with every track within three hours of Memphis. JEL Racing would not let the rain dampen their spirits! They drove four hours to Monticello, Ar to race. They arrived at the track late missing practice, and causing Joseph to start in the rear of the second heat. Joseph fought an ill handling car and finished 8th.  For the feature, he started 16th and made it up to 11th by the first caution. By the second caution, Joe had raced his way up to 7th. During the last six laps he battled for the 5th position but would finish 6th. After passing ten cars, Joe and the team were quite pleased with the finish!

September 11-12

JEL Racing raced at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO with Rislone USCS Modified Touring Series. Qualifying and a semi feature were ran friday night. Joseph qualified 16th out of the twenty-four car field. The cars were split up into two semi features to determine saturdays feature line up. Joseph started eigth and finished 4th in the first semi. This put him starting 7th in the forty lap feature. Joseph was running in the top ten close to halfway, when he was driven into the infield and lost five spots. Not able to come back after the incident, Joseph finished 13th. 

September 5th

Joseph ran at Riverside Int. Speedway in West Memphis, Ar. He started 4th out of six in the heat race. Joseph took the lead going down the back stretch during the first lap, and went on to take the heat win! For the feature, Joseph lined up second out of a twelve car field. He did not advance any but put on a good race, holding off John Stinson, to finish 2nd.

August 29th

JEL Racing visited Riverside Int. Speedway in West Memphis, Ar. The night did not begin well ending the heat race with the front end completely crashed on the last lap. They did not have enough spare parts to fix it and couldn't find any at the track. If they wanted to race there was only one thing to do. Paul Leister and a good friend Geoffrey Garrison drove to the race shop (about 40 minutes away) and pulled the front steering parts off the teams second car. They made it back in time to fix the car and get Joe on the track for the feature. Joe started 14th out of 20 cars. Early on he would end up in a wreck giving him a flat and more front end damage. The crew got the tire changed and sent Joe out once again. Joe worked his way up to 5th when a late caution flew with two laps to go. Joe picked off two more cars to end the night with a 3rd place finish.

August 8th

Joseph raced at Riverside Int. Speedway in West Memphis, AR. He started 5th in the heat race and took the lead by halfway to get the win. Joe started on the pole of an 18 car field for the feature. He led the first 7 laps and then the caution fell. Joe retook the green leading the next couple of laps until the next caution. This went on a few more times. He had a tight battle with second till the end where Joe won by half a car! JEL Racing was very excited to get their first win of the year and plan on trying to repeat it this weekend at Riverside Speedway.

July 18

JEL Racing visited Clayhill Speedway in Atwood, TN for the first time. They began the night by finishing 4th in the USCS Dash for Cash. Finished 5th out of eight in the heat race after being involved in a crash. Joe started 21st in the feature out of 25 cars. Unfortunately, he was wrapped up in a first lap pile up. While making his way back through the field, he had a tire get cut down and brought out a yellos. Joe got it changed and finished 17th at the end of the 40 lap race.

 

June 27

For the 4th week in a row, JEL Racing ran at Riverside Int. Speedway. Twenty two modifieds showed up to take on each other and the heat! Joe started 4th in the heat and finished 3rd with a tight battle for second. Joe started 10th in the feature. By lap six he had moved up to 4th. A lap later, the right front tire went flat and Joe brought out a yellow. Thanks to the crew, they got the tire changed and Joe back on the track. After joining the rear of the field, Joe was able to race his way up to a 7th place finish.

June 6

Raced at Riverside Int. Speedway in West Memphis, AR.  Joseph started on the outside pole of the second heat. He took the lead from the start and never looked back to claim the heat race win! Joe started on the outside pole for the feature. At the start, he quickly fell to 3rd. Joseph closely trailed second until the last lap, where a lap car tangled with him causing him to finish 4th. JEL Racing was more than happy getting 4th, with this being there first top five of 2009!

May 30

JEL Racing visited Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS for the first time this year competing with the Rislone USCS Modifeds. Joseph started the night off by qualifying 10th out of 25 cars. With the top eight quick times being locked in, Joe had to run a heat race. He started on the pole and took the lead on lap two. Joe got his first heat win of 2009 with great disappointment. After taking the checkers the rearend broke do to rough track conditions. Joseph was unable to start the feature and was awarded the USCS Tough Luck award for the night.

May 29

Ran at Duck River Speedway in Monticello, AR  competing with the Rislone USCS Modifeds. Joseph started the night off by qualifying 19th out of  40 plus cars. Joe started 3rd in his heat and finished 3rd to transfer on to the feature. Only the top four in each heat would transfer on. The feature went green from start to finish for twenty five laps. Joseph started 19th and ended up finishing 16th out of 25 cars.

May 28

Raced at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR for the first time ever competing with the Rislone USCS Modifeds. Joseph started the night off by finishing 3rd out of six in the Rislone Modified Dash For Cash race. Up next were the heat races. Starting 5th, Joseph quickly made his way up to 3rd but soon spun out after entering a turn too hard. The heat race ended poorly finishing close to the rear. With 35 cars and only 24 making the show, Joe had to run the b-main. He started 9th and raced his way to the final transfer spot (4th) in the short ten lap race. Joe started 21st and rounded out the feature with a 17th place finish.

May 24

JEL Racing raced at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, MS with the USCS Rislone Modifieds. Started the night off by qualifying 12th out of 19 cars. Ran the six lap dash for cash race and finished 4th. Joseph managed to finish 6th in the heat making him line up 12th for the feature. Joseph raced his way through a tough field of cars to finish 7th afther the twenty five lap feature. 

May 15

JEL Racing raced at Riverside Int. Speedway in West Memphis, AR. This was there first night out with the second car and boy was it ever a bad one! The night started off bad in hot laps when it caught on fire due to a bad valve cover gasket. The heat race wasnt any better after having to pull off with front end damage. Joseph started 16th out of nineteen cars in the feature.  He cleanly made it up to 7th with three laps to go and was then spun out. Finished the night off with a 14th place finish.
